Keith & Lucy Service Mode
What appears below is an English translation of the service menus of Visco’s Dramatic Adventure Quiz Keith & Lucy (ビスコの 「ドラマティック・アドベンチャー・クイズ キース & ルーシィ」), running on an SSV arcade amusement system. These translations are made available in the hope that they will be useful. I make no representations about accuracy or fitness for any purpose. Display Test
Although this game is configured entirely using DIP switches, the minimal service mode provides some useful diagnostics. To get started, switch on the service mode DIP switch (DIP1-3) and switch the machine on (or reset it if it’s already on). It should boot to the display test shown to the right (crosshatch and colour bars). When you’re happy with your monitor settings, press the 1P Start button to get past advance to the input test.
Input Test
You will see the screen shown to the right when you press the P1 Start button at the display menu. It’s a crude input test that lets you see whether DIP switches, coin inputs and buttons are working. In English, it would say:
TEST MODE DIPsw - H:OFF/L:ON Coin 1 = off DIP1 Coin 2 = off 12345678 Service = off HHHHHHHH Tilt = off DIP2 Select 1P = off 12345678 Select 2P = off HHHHHHHH 1p Button 1b 2b 3b 4b 2p Button CREDIT 0
As you can guess, when you push a button or change a DIP setting, the display updates to tell you what’s going on (off changing to on, H changing to L or the picture showing a depressed button). It isn’t all that good at dealing with more than one button at a time – most combinations will only show one button as being active. It’s more than a bit disappointing, considering how good the tests are on other SSV games (well, it’s one of the earlier SSV games, so I guess it’s forgivable).
